The current Latin Student Association of Zurich (LSVZ) has its origins in the Latin Club (CL ZH), founded in 2006 by a group of students from the University of Zurich and ETH. The first president of the Latin Club was Nicolas Berlinger, who was succeeded that same year by Jessica Valderrama. In 2007, Mónica Welter was the last president before the Latin Club was re-founded as the Latino Studentenverein Zürich by Guillem Daniel and Eric Carrera. Under the new name, the statutes were amended to include Portuguese-speaking students.
